CRITIQUE 5 I think it's pretty strange how almost everyone's rice paper was used in form of triangle. It makes sense, since most pieces, minus Kayla’s, had triangles within the form. Katelyn’s rectangle box had off angles, mismatched joints and one edge completely missing. Someone pointed out if we should hold significance to the mismatched joints. I think that we should, since it’s accompanied with the skew angles and the missing edge. It’s a good play with deviating with what is normally visualized when thinking of a box. Each piece was built logically. Meaning, each piece was built without tension and was sitting the way it was supposed to. Everything looked sturdy and architectural. Changing orientation would help make the pieces illogical. The idea of tension was brought up in the rosin paper project, with Miriam's group. The piece looked top heavy yet was still standing, with minimal tape showing. Logic and tension aren't just orientation, but more so creating a piece that doesn't make visual sense. I think that moderate planning and magic tricks will help creating this illusion for future projects.   Miriam's piece used shadows to create a sense of depth,

Great idea for assignment, it was a lovely mind snack. From the start, I knew that making boxes from the paper bag would not be effective, because it would quickly use up the allotted material. I also figured stacking pieces would yield an unstable tower. So from there, I came up with designing each cylinder, so that there was a small platform 2 inches in for the pieces to rest inside. I also followed basic building rules that the bottom is wider than the top. I tried to stretch my paper supplies by cutting a rectangle out of a larger sheet, then filling it what was cut with tape.
